PSAs are Here
Have you seen the Campaign’s newest PSA, “For All Life’s Moments”? This PSA encourages eligible families to enroll in Medicaid and CHIP health coverage to access routine health services for all stages of childhood from birth to age 19. The PSAs are available in English and Spanish and are formatted for TV or radio. Encourage your local stations to air the PSAs with that can be customized with state-specific information.

Maternal health care, which includes prenatal and postpartum care, is essential to the health of pregnant individuals and their children. With coverage through Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), individuals can access regular check-ups, prenatal vaccines, and other comprehensive services to help prevent and detect complications before baby arrives.
Facts about Maternal Health and Coverage Benefits
When pregnant people are enrolled in Medicaid or CHIP, their newborns are automatically enrolled, too. The new continuous eligibility rule also requires states to provide 12 months of continuous eligibility for children under Medicaid and CHIP. Health coverage can help prevent serious issues like death from maternal causes, which is increasing. In 2021, 1,205 women died of maternal causes in the United States and the maternal mortality rate was 32.9 deaths per 100,000 live births. Medicaid covers 42% of all births nationally, helping to close the coverage gap and provide critical maternal care.
After birth, it is critical for babies to get vaccinated against diseases and have regular check-ups to measure their growth and development. Plus, new parents often need medical care after giving birth.

Explore our Maternal Health initiative page on InsureKidsNow.gov, which has resources that can help your organization reach pregnant individuals and get them enrolled. Check out the digital videos in English and Spanish, a poster available in 22 languages, suggested social media messages and images, PSA scripts in English and Spanish , and more to help those in your community gain access to care.
Remind Families to Renew their Medicaid & CHIP Coverage
As of February 27, 2024, an estimated 3.99 million children have lost Medicaid coverage during the unwinding process. You can direct families to Medicaid.gov/renewals to find contact information for their state Medicaid office and helpful information on what to do if they no longer qualify for Medicaid or CHIP.
CMS remains committed to informing families about the importance of renewing their coverage and their coverage options if they are no longer eligible for Medicaid or CHIP. Visit our Annual Renewal and Unwinding page for resources to share throughout your community.
