How to
Enroll Your Kids in Low-Cost or Free Health Insurance
Our Families
are a Gift
Families
are our most important treasures. They represent our love, our
trust, our respect for each other, and our values. You work
hard to provide for your family, and do everything you can to
make sure they are always protected. It is a sign of pride and
honor to maintain your familys well-being.
Because
you care about your family, it is important to protect their
health and make sure they get all the regular health care services
they need. Maybe your young daughter needs to get her vaccinations
before school begins. Perhaps your teenage son needs a checkup
to play on his soccer team.
Services
such as health exams and vaccinations prevent illness and are
an important way to protect your familys well-being. To
receive proper health care for your children, you should enroll
them in a health insurance program.
Health
Insurance Matters!
Children
with health insurance are more likely to
- Be healthy
newborns
- Receive
needed vaccinations as toddlers
- Do better
in school and miss fewer days
- Get treatment
in a doctors office for illnesses such as ear
infections and asthma
- Grow
up healthy
Without
treatment, illnesses can sometimes slow a childs learning,
and this can have lifelong consequences.
Here's
how to make sure your children don't go another day without
health insurance: Make

Each state
has different eligibility requirements. States
have different names for their children's health insurance programs.
For example, California offers Healthy Families and MediCal.
Illinois' program is called KidCare.
In some
States, you may enroll on-line. See links
to all State Children's Health Insurance programs.
